The following rules are provided for everyones enjoyment and safety in the use of the pool. Items marked with * are required by State Laws. We thank you in advance for abiding by them. 1. The pool will be opened by request only, made in advance as to the number of days and hours of use and all other paperwork submitted to the director of Operations of Cathedral Oaks. The request may be denied if the group requesting usage has previously used the pool and shown themselves to be poor stewards of the facilities. Usage may also be denied if the Director determines the pool cannot be opened for any operational reason, or determines the opening of the pool would not be safe for users.
2. Fees are $10.00 for opening and $1 .50 per swimmer for each 24 hours.
3. All youth camps are required to have at least two (2) lifeguards present, or one (1) lifeguard for every thirty-five (35) swimmers, whichever number is the greatest.* The cost of the lifeguards is the responsibility of the group using the pool and will be paid to the Camp Director in advance of use. Lifeguards have full authority to regulate conduct in the pool area, EVEN IF NOT POSTED. The penalty for repeated violation of the rules of the lifeguards may be expulsion from the pool area for the remainder of your stay.
4. Use of the pool by private parties, other than organized youth camps, do not require hired lifeguards, though they are recommended for greater safety. If lifeguards are not hired, the private party must have at least one (1) person who holds a current American Red Cross Water Safety Lifesaver certificate present in the pool area during all swimming periods. The person holding the current certificate must make a copy available to the Camp Director along with the usage request for the pool to be opened. On-site, the person will be required to provide the original card to the person opening the pool for usage. Exception to this rule may be granted by written waiver.
5. Those parties recognized as youth camps by the Camp Director must:
a. Use the American Red Cross, YMCA or Boy Scouts of America swimming test to determine each child’s swimming ability. The testing procedures will be provided to the lifeguards by the Camp Director. Those classified must use the smaller pool only. *
b. Use the buddy system of checking swimmers in and out of the water. This system requires that every swimmer be associated with a “buddy” and pairs up with that buddy prior to entering the pool area and prior to exiting the pool area. The lifeguards will have everyone exit the pool for a buddy check once each hourto see that all are present and safe.*
6. Any person having a skin disease, open sores, inflamed eyes, nasal and/or ear infections or any communicable disease must not use the pool.
7. Babies in diapers are not allowed in the pool.
8. Objections or criticism of the conduct of the lifeguards must be made in writing to the Camp Director.
9. No animals are permitted in the pool area.
